AMD Radeon 5300M Beats NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 in Benchmark

The results of the first benchmark tests with the new AMD Radeon RX 5300M mobile GPU have been released. Despite clock and memory limitation, AMD Radeon RX 5300M outperformed NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650.
The newest member of AMD’s entry-level Navi 14 GPU family is the Radeon RX 5300M. While Apple will use the 128-bit memory (224GB/s) and 4GB VRAM version of this GPU, the rest of the world will have to go with the 96-bit (168GB/s) and 3GB VRAM version.

The benchmark results of the system with Radeon RX 5300M GPU, which is not yet in production and powered by AMD Ryzen 7 3750H and Vega 10, came from industry sources. The results are quite successful.

3DMark

The example RX 5300M had a base clock of 1,036 MHz and a boost clock of 1,445 MHz, which is lower than the standard 1,181 MHz. Probably the reason for this restriction was battery life.

First, in 3DMark Fire Strike, the RX 5300M managed to score 8872 points. The MSI Prestige 15 A10SC with GTX 1650 Max-Q scored 19% lower at this point, with the Dell G3 3590 (using GTX 1650) trailing 8%. It is noteworthy that the GTX 1650 lags behind, despite the higher clock and VRAM. The MSI Alpha 15 and RX5500M were 15% more successful.

When we look at the Fire Strike graphic score alone, we see that the RX 5300M has collected 10,306 points. That’s 33% higher than the GTX 1650 Max-Q and 11% higher than the standard GTX 1650. The RX 5500M managed to be 14% more successful.

In this comparison, the GTX 1650 versions did not allow the difference to be widened. While the RX 5300M was only 2% better than the GeForce GTX’ 1650 Max-Q, it outperformed the standard GTX 1650 only by a nosedive. The RX 5500M was 12% more successful than the 5300M.

The RX 5300M scored 14,265 points on the GPU score, beating the GTX Max-Q by 24% and the GTX 1650 by 8%. The RX 5500M, on the other hand, performed 24% better than its smaller sibling.

AMD Radeon RX 5300M is the lowest spec version of the company’s Navi series. Technically a slightly smaller version of the RX 5500M, this GPU is one of the best examples of AMD’s point in power saving with Navi 14. The RX 5300M looks like a perfect replacement for the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 series and could be used by many PC manufacturers in the near future.

Tests do not always show the whole truth, so the performance of the hardware on real devices or games may be different. However, according to the data we have, we can encounter a system with performance between GTX 1650 and GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q.
