According to the news of CNBC, IB CEO Thomas Peterffy made important statements at an event he attended. Peterffy said that there is a demand for crypto from their customers, and therefore they plan to launch cryptocurrency trading by the end of the summer.
No announcement has yet been made as to which cryptocurrencies the IB will support within the framework of crypto trading. The company’s service currently allows its customers to access CME’s Bitcoin (BTC) futures offering. Also, IB has not shared a date regarding the crypto trading.
It is very important for the company to take the crypto money step. Because the CEO of the company, Peterffy, had previously made negative statements about crypto.
Peterffy ran an ad in the Wall Street Journal about the connection between cryptocurrencies and traditional investment vehicles.
“I think Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are great ideas. They should be allowed to be freely traded and used freely to find their proper role in the economy.
What I object to is that bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are tied to the real economy by federal regulations. This would be if we could offer Bitcoin together with other products in the same trading point.”
